The number of times ratings showed this belief-system/nerf science/weirdo stuff to be flat-out wrong were legion. What they’d do under those circumstances was hypnotise themselves back into a calm computer-printout reading state by throwing in a whole bunch of new figures that “proved” they were right all along.

We killed radio by being too scared to take real risks. At the same time we suffocated our own music industry and sacrificed thousands of careers, all because some stupid people relaxed with numbers instead of being nervous about their own decision-making capacity and not trying to actually understand people.
